Frank X – From Planet X

Frank X – Progressive Metal – Canada
From Planet X – 2018

8,8/10
Frank X brings his third album to us, titled "From Planet X". This Warwick's musician continues on his way to break-up compositions with a very high writtings level and a madness bordering humor.
The master François Dallaire does everything by himself, writtings, arrangements, he plays all the instruments, makes practically all the voices and produces his albums. Frank has his heart-pounding for fat and sharp riffs on rhythmic changing tempos unfolding with high-caliber sound arrangements. The use of keyboards is a strenght in the music of Frank X, The sounds used are brilliant and fall right into place while the master does not hesitate to explore various instrumentations including the use of saxophone or "vintage" keyboards giving a very 70's feel into modern writtings though. Once again Frank X uses of his caustic humor by emphasizing the dialogues between the various characters of his concept. On this album, Lucifer is struggling deep into hardtimes and it's very funny, The final track "The End of the Tail" is a perfect example of this uncanny humor's wrap all along the album..
From Planet X stands on the same level then the two previous albums, the cruising speed of Frank X is maintained. This album will not once again address to the narrow minded since it brings the listener into a world of sounds and less common arrangements in this vast planet of metal.
Writting: 9
